What is hosted
Hosted is a system where voice calls are made over an internet connection rather than over the traditional telephone line. Your main system is sitting in the cloud rather than in your office meaning it can be accessed from anywhere via a handset, a mobile app or a soft phone on a computer.
Why do I need it?
With the BT announcement that in 2025 they will be switching off traditional copper based telephone lines, anyone with traditional telephone lines will be required to change them to internet based connections. Everyone with a traditional phone system will no longer be able to use this once the change has happened. In reality, you don’t need to do this today however changing to a hosted phone system now will put you in the driving seat when looking for the right company to use rather than being forced to do it when the time comes.
